Mouawad Designs Gemstone Replica of Largest Catholic Church

East and West meet in one glistening replica of the largest Catholic Church in Bahrain crafted with colored gemstones and noble metals

Mouawad, the luxury jeweler and watchmaker adds today a unique creation to its record of innovation with a new masterwork honed to perfection thanks to the brand’s renowned artistic excellence and precision. A scale model of the largest Catholic Church in the Arabian Peninsula has been designed by Mouawad’s expert artisans and presented by His Majesty Sheikh Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of Bahrain, to His Holiness Pope Francis.

Glistening with the finest quality of gemstones and noble metals, the Objet-d’art rests on a base of gold ornamented with brown Obsidian, Rhodochrosite, Sunburst and Mother of Pearl. The two mosques, namely “Al Fateh” and” Khamis”, meticulously crafted with gold plated sterling silver and Lapis-Lazuli, embrace the cathedral featuring Mactan, Lapis-Lazuli and Red Coral gemstones to create a sense of serenity and devoutness.

“This chef d’oeuvre has been designed, following the directives of His Majesty the King of Bahrain to whom goes the merit of the idea and the concept. The master-piece was realized by Mouawad, to pay tribute to the traditions of religious tolerance, several hundred years old, of the Kingdom of Bahrain in the Middle East, the region that holds the roots of the Mouawad family and brand”, said Robert Mouawad, third generation family leader.
