Mouawad + Victoria's Secret: Crowning Moments

22 December 2019

Rare beauty and out-of-this-world creations defined the almost two decades of creative collaboration between Mouawad and renowned American lingerie retailer Victoria’s Secret. Over the years, some of the most famous names in the fashion modeling industry took to the runway in award-winning bejeweled creations known as Fantasy Bras. Each Mouawad Fantasy Bra was memorable in its own way, beginning in 2001, when Heidi Klum stepped out in the Heavenly Star Bra, a lingerie set decorated with more than 1,200 pink sapphires, and over 2,300 round and marquise white diamonds. The centerpiece was a staggering D-Internally Flawless emerald-cut diamond of 90 carat. The bar had been set high, but the following year Karolina Kurkova wowed the world as she modeled The Star of Victoria Fantasy Bra, featuring 1,150 awe-inspiring rubies (150 carat in total weight) and 1,600 vibrant emeralds (110 carat in total weight). At the center of the bra shimmered the 60.19 carat D-Internally Flawless pear-shaped Mouawad Mondera Diamond. In 2003, Heidi Klum took the honor again of ending the Victoria’s Secret runway show in the Mouawad Very Sexy Fantasy Bra, which became famous for achieving the Guinness World Record for most expensive lingerie ever made. The highlight of this Fantasy Bra was the Mouawad Excelsior Diamond – a 69.68 carat diamond cut from the second largest diamond in the world. Joining the Mouawad Excelsior were 2,809 exquisitely cut white diamonds, yellow-orange sapphires, rhodolites, and amethysts, totaling 2,200 carat, while the matching panty glittered with 3,236 diamonds and colored gemstones, with a total weight of 200 carat. Each Mouawad Fantasy Bra continued to exalt high craftsmanship and spectacular gemstones in the years to come, always bringing a fresh creative flair to this time-honored tradition. In more recent years, the 2014 Dream Angels Fantasy Bras gave a new twist with the presentation of two Fantasy Bras worn by models Adriana Lima and Alessandra Ambrosio. The Dream Angels Fantasy Bras took 1,380 hours of artisanship to be thoroughly handset with a gleaming array of diamonds, rubies, sapphires, and multi-colored gemstones, strung together with 18-karat gold. The last Mouawad Fantasy Bra, the Champagne Nights Fantasy Bra, was no less spectacular, featuring nearly 6,000 white diamonds, yellow sapphires, and blue topazes totaling over 640 carat, all set in 18-karat yellow gold. Complementing the bedazzling lingerie suite was a matching bracelet and earrings, set with 75 carat of diamonds, sapphires, and topazes.
