Behind the design, into the mastermind

A journey of passion for all things precious
Jewelry is one of the oldest forms of adornment known to mankind. Humans have been designing, crafting, and wearing jewelry for thousands of years, starting with the simple designs seen in ancient times, to the more intricate pieces set with precious stones that we know today. Jewelry also mirrors the personality of its wearer; back in the day, jewelry was worn as a mark of status or rank. This concept has slightly evolved over time, and while wearing precious pieces of jewelry can often be a sign of wealth and high societal status, it certainly reflects one’s refined taste and profound appreciation of nature’s most breathtaking creations.
For over a century – for 127 years to be exact – the House of Mouawad has sourced the finest gems from around the world, designed its own spectacular jewelry, and manufactured it in its own workshops. Every Mouawad masterpiece tells its own story, commencing with the hand-selection of the diamonds and colored stones. Then, the artistic journey begins as masterful design gives way to intricate craftsmanship, culminating in a unique artistic statement.
One fine example of Mouawad’s longstanding pursuit of timelessly beautiful creations is the Divine Muzo Pears suite. Inspired by a colored stone that has been at the heart of thousands of legends since time immemorial, this masterpiece dazzles the eye with an intense green glow emanating from five pear-shaped Colombian emeralds from Muzo mines. The necklace is a poetic contrast between entirely pure white diamonds that circle the neck and a 72.40-carat emerald that reigns supremely as if suspended in air. The earrings pay tribute to the necklace with two emeralds weighing 41.12 and 39.20 carat set in 18-karat white and rose gold clasps and suspended from diamonds. A bracelet with a 54.38-carat emerald at its heart, and a 53.11-carat emerald statement ring complete this masterpiece of unforgettable majesty.
Another – and quite recent – work of art bearing the name Mouawad is Le Soleil. Just as its name suggests, this masterpiece is just blindingly brilliant, featuring five fancy intense yellow diamonds, and a total of 211.03 carat of fiery white diamonds. In the necklace, an emerald-cut yellow diamond weighing 62.34 carat is nestled amongst white diamonds and hanging gracefully from an icy white diamond collar. The bracelet artistically mirrors this effect with a 54.79-carat cut-cornered rectangular yellow diamond surrounded by intricate white diamond motifs. As for the earrings, they blossom like daisies with two central radiant yellow diamonds of 20.72 and 20.10 carat. A stunning final touch, the ring foregrounds a 60.84-carat cushion-shaped yellow diamond embraced by white diamonds. With an unequalled total diamond weight of 429.82 carat, Le Soleil is undoubtedly one of Mouawad’s most valuable creations to date.
After all, the House of Mouawad has always been firmly committed to the authentic traditions of jewelry making, purveying exceptional jewels and rare diamonds. Every piece created by Mouawad is destined to associate the beholder with a bond of admiration and passion. It has to be more beautiful, more brilliant, and more scintillating than any other – all the while offering rarity and timelessness. In the most elegant host of choices, Mouawad jewelry remains today a statement of precise craftsmanship, relentless refinement, and an uncompromising pursuit of perfection.
