The world’s most valuable jewellery box on display at the Middle East’s top luxury market event
The renowned 127-year-old diamond house, Mouawad, revealed at the 2017 Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition, for the first time in the Middle East, its latest masterpiece — the Mouawad Flower of Eternity Jewellery Coffer. Certified as the world’s most valuable jewellery box by the Guinness World Records, the coffer certainly stole the limelight at this year’s exhibition, next to stunning Mouawad jewellery and Swiss-made timepieces.
“Through creativity, patience, and verve, the artisans at Mouawad have crafted an impressive jewellery coffer, embodying Mouawad’s Flower of Eternity™ motif in an unparalleled work of art,” commented Pascal Mouawad, Co-Guardian of the Mouawad Retail Division, who flew to Doha to attend the unveiling event.
“This is our ninth year at the DJWE, and once again we have chosen the show as the location for the debut of our award-winning jewellery creation in the Middle East. The unveiling of our Flower of Eternity Jewellery Coffer is Mouawad’s special gift for what we believe is the top event for the luxury market in the region in its 14th edition,” he concluded.
Inspired by Mouawad’s signature Flower of Eternity™ motif, which consists of three heart-shaped petals symbolizing the past, present, and future in an emblem of eternal love, the Flower of Eternity Jewellery Coffer was crafted using 18-karat gold and 925 silver, and features a profusion of 542.39 carat of white and yellow diamonds, 293.24 carat of white and pink sapphires, 20.06 carat of rubies, and 1,799.75 carat of lapis lazuli. Valued at US $3.5 million, the coffer is a resounding testament to the profound creativity and virtuosity of Mouawad craftsmen.
This year’s Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition was held at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre, from the 20th until the 25th of February, and featured Mouawad at Booth number 38, where the House showcased an array of products, including some of Mouawad’s latest and most enchanting masterpieces and high jewellery – namely the Blue Serena diamond and sapphire suite, The Eye of Muzo diamond and emerald suite, and the Triple Diamond Ripple diamond suite. Also on display was Mouawad’s dazzling Diamond Classics collection, crafted from 18-karat gold and set with diamonds and coloured gemstones.
Enthusiasts of horology were not forgotten, as Mouawad’s Swiss-made timepieces were available to garner admiration. Tailored for gentlemen of distinction, the Grande Ellipse Galaxy RM120 stole the show at Booth 38, marking the latest addition to Mouawad’s signature Grande Ellipse collection. Produced in a limited edition, these unique timepieces feature a tourbillon movement and a 120-hour power reserve, and are designed in 18-karat gold, fully encrusted with sparkling diamonds and gemstones.
Also among Mouawad’s distinctive timepieces were the new Grande Ellipse Royale models, fully studded with diamonds, and the Grande Ellipse Chrono Mono Poussoir Tourbillion, which features an in-house developed and manufactured chrono mono-pusher tourbillon movement with column wheel – in addition to a remarkable range of Mouawad Genève timepieces.
With more than four hundred renowned international brands on display, the 2017 Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition was certainly the perfect venue to present Mouawad’s latest master work to the world, and display some of its outstanding bejewelled creations.
